Cement and clay tile installations

Tile could be installed using several methods, all which very according to roof slopes, calculations, code regulations and or builder specs.

Existing condition of roofing application prior to the removal.

 

Tare-off process at which time we will check for damaged deck wood that must be replaced and check current nailing pattern for applicable corrections. The older the home, the more likely that nailing pattern will acquire corrections. While having the roof deck exposed all reinforcement of structure in trusses will be made to prevent sagging or soft spots.

 

Application of Asphalt Felt #30 - primarily used as the base layer on sloped roofs. This particular step will be followed by most metal and ventilation applications. ( Galvanized Drip Metals, Flashing Metals, Plumbing Stacks,Vents, Skylights, Gas Pipes, etc.. ). This ply is installed using 1 1/4" ring shank nails applied with a Tin Cap spaced every (6) Six inches on the center using a minimum overlap of ( 4 ) Four inches. This felt will be applied directly over the wood deck.

 

 

Application of #90 felt - a prepared organic roll having a granuled surfaced exposure. This layer is typically set using hot tar. The #90 felt will additionally acquire "Back nailing" on the overlap areas to prevent slippage. Note: This process normally recognized as the "Dry-in" will make your house water tight. That is no water penetration!! This felt will be applied directly over the #30 felt.

 

Tile Installation: At this point tile selected by customer will be delivered by our tile vendor. Additionally, Ridge Metal Framing will be installed as a base for the Ridge Caps directly over the #90 felt. Ridge caps will be installed over the Metal Framing using required screw and polyfoam application. The finsh of the Ridge Caps over the ridge will be performed using mortar to match tile selected by the customer.

 

 

Tile Installation Process: Tile is now ready for the installation process. Tile could be installed using several methods, all which very according to roof slopes,calculations, code regulations and or builder specs. For the most part, a polyfoam product is what we will use as this will be more effective in adhering plus eliminates the possibility of incorrectly mixed mortar. Polyfoam is currently the most effective and the best method to have tile installed.

 

 

Completion: The roof is now ready for showing off. With propper care and optional preventive maintenace planning your roof will not only keep water out but also keep your roof looking like it should.
